A women-only bike tour into the green heart of Calabria, home to vast Natural Parks and protected areas that will surprise you. 590 km of pure wonder through Calabria’s four major Parks, for an authentic adventure that will remain etched in your memory. This is an unsupported tour with overnights in hotels.
NEXT DEPARTURE: 7/17 MAY 2026

DAYS: 11
LENGHT: 593km
POSITIVE GAIN: 10.300m D+
DIFFICULTY: 7/10
We will ride along Calabria Parks Cycle Route, primarily along small mountain roads with very little traffic, through Calabria’s four Natural Parks: Pollino, Sila, Serre, and Aspromonte. Along the way, we’ll make many stops to explore the region, visiting picturesque villages, churches, open-air museums, and tasting local products. Our cuisine will be plant-based, as we want to offer you a truly sustainable and respectful experience, which is something we believe in.
We will travel unsupported, meaning everyone will carry their own luggage and we won’t have any support vehicles. The elevation gain is significant, as it’s a mountain route, but there are no technical difficulties since it’s entirely on asphalt. Furthermore, overnight stays will always be in hotels for a good night’s sleep: we’ll primarily sleep in double rooms, though occasionally we may have triple or quadruple rooms where there aren’t any larger accommodations. In Aspromonte, we’ll spend one night in a refuge, which will require some adaptability… which is the essence of an adventurous journeys. Half board is included. A tour suitable for trained cyclists!
You can rent a bike with us. You can also ship your bike using Ship to Cycle, at a 15% discount.

STAGES
Meet at Scalea train station at 9 AM (we will arrive with a night train from Milan), where a van will take us, with our bikes still packed, to Catasta Pollino in Campotenese. Here, we’ll reassemble the bikes and have a short briefing, before hitting the saddle after a welcome lunch. In Morano Calabro, we’ll visit the castle and the village. Overnight stay in a widespread Hotel, dinner, and breakfast.
Let the journey (and the climbs) begin! We’ll start along a former railway line to Castovillari, then begin climbing, passing through some historic Arbëreshë communities: we’re still in the Pollino National Park. In Acquaformosa, we’ll visit the splendid Byzantine Catholic church, covered in mosaics. After a series of adrenaline-fueled hairpin bends overlooking the Esaro Valley, we’ll arrive at a winery for a tasting before dinner. Overnight stay and breakfast at the same property.
One of the most challenging days of the journey in terms of elevation gain, but don’t worry, there will be plenty of breaks: in Bisignano for lunch and in Acri for a quick tour of the city, where we also find Pistoletto’s Terzo Paradiso installation. We then arrive in the Sila National Park for dinner, overnight stay and breakfast at a Agriturismo.
We’re in the Sila National Park, riding through dense forests of larch pines and lakes. We’ll stop at the Cupone Visitor Center to learn more about the National Park, and at the Giants of Sila, a 3km detour that’s a must. Finally, we’ll reach Lorica, where we’ll sleep in a big apartment and dine at a restaurant overlooking the magnificent Lake Arvo. Today, we’ll reach the highest point of our journey, 1,565 meters above sea level on the slopes of Monte Altare.
The Sila lake basins stage takes us from Lake Arvo to Lake Ampollino, and then to Lake Passante, always surrounded by pine trees. In the afternoon, we’ll visit MABOS, the Sila Forest Art Museum. Dinner, overnight stay, and breakfast in a hotel.
We retrace a short stretch to get back on the main route, then immediately stop at Villaggio Mancuso, a holiday resort with charming wooden chalets built in the first half of the 20th century. The long descent to Albi with sea views is amazing, but then the climbs begin again. The stage ends in Tiriolo, the village of the two seas: visit the artisan workshops and enjoy sunset at the castle. Dinner, overnight stay, and breakfast in a hotel.
The day begins downhill, but it won’t last long, as we’ll start climbing again. After Girifalco, where we’ll stop to admire the town center and the Devil’s Fountain, the Serre Park begins. We’ll stop for lunch on Monte Covello before heading to Serra San Bruno, home to the magnificent Certosa di Santo Stefano, which we’ll visit the following morning. Dinner, overnight stay, and breakfast in hotel.
After visiting the Certosa, we’ll set off uphill through the magnificent beech forests of the Serre Park. We’ll stop in Mongiana, the town of the Royal Bourbon Railways, and at the Limina Pass, the gateway to the Aspromonte Park. Dinner, overnight stay, and breakfast at a basic mountain refuge.
We ride through Aspromonte National Park, passing through magnificent pine forests and clearings lined with giant ferns, encountering gigantic boulders. Lunch break at the Biancospino Refuge before arriving in Gambarie (1,324 m), the renowned Aspromonte ski resort overlooking Reggio Calabria. Dinner, overnight and breakfast in a hotel with swimming pool.
A gentle climb before plunging toward the sea with Sicily on the horizon. We stop in Scilla for a well-deserved swim! We end our journey at the Arena dello Stretto, with Mount Etna in the background, after riding the most beautiful kilometer in Italy. Free afternoon to explore the city, visit the Archaeological Museum to admire the famous statues of Bronzi of Riace and/or take another dip in the sea. Overnight stay and breakfast in hotel. Dinner at restaurant.
The tour ends after breakfast, when we pack our bikes and transfer to the airport.
