FROM MILAN TO LONDON BY BIKE FOLLOWING THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE GREAT WOMEN WHO CHANGED THE WORLD, TO BRING A MESSAGE OF COURAGE TO THE EMMELINE PANKHURST MEMORIAL.
This time we want to reach London!
As usual, it will be a female challenge in total autonomy: no support car or any kind of assistance. We will bring with us just few clothes, a tent and the photographic gear.
For us, this trip is not only an adventure on two wheels, but a journey along the footsteps of the great European women who changed the world: we will visit places, collect stories, get inspired. We live in a time in which we talk a lot about women’s rights, but unfortunately women are still victims of violence and discrimination, therefore we want to propose positive models to inspire and sensitise a wide audience.
Pioneers, strong women who, with their courage, changed forever the history of women: starting from the nonconformist astrophysicist Margherita Hack to fashion designer Coco Chanel, who changed the idea of femininity; the Nobel Prize Marie Curie, Jeanne Baret, the first woman to circumnavigate the globe, Emmeline Pankhurst, the leader of the British suffragette movement, and many other…
Our arrival destination will be the Emmeline Pankhurst Memorial, in Westminster.
During the journey we will not only tell the stories of the great women who changed the world, but we will also collect the messages of courage of today’s women, even those we will meet along the way. We will then bring them to the Emmeline Pankhurst Memorial and leave them there, to inspire all the peple who visit that place.
Send us your massage to firstname.lastname@example.org and tell us what it means today to be a brave woman… We will take it with us to London. We would love also to receive many messages from men, because we believe it is important that everybody supports gender equality!
Departure Tuesday 11th of July at 10 am from Via Alfonsina Strada, that will be inaugurated in that occasion (Lorenteggio Area, Milan). Arrival in London 30th of July, party 31st of July (location tbd).
Approximately 1.600km to go… We will not take the shortest route, but we will try to follow as much as possible the great European cycle routes: Route No. 3 of the Swiss National Cycling Network from Chiasso to Basel, Eurovelo 15 Rhine Cycle Route from Basel to Strasbourg, Paneuropa Radweg From Strasbourg to Paris, Avenue Verte from Paris to London.
